Pregnancy is time of unparalleled joy and anticipation. However, for those with chronic medical conditions, pregnancy can be moment of fear and confusion. Preeclampsia can be detected by few symptoms: high blood pressure, too much protein in urine, swelling on face and hands, systematic problems such as headache and blurred vision.
Complicated pregnancies can be resulted by persistent conditions such as lupus, cancer, diabetes. These situations need special attention and care. While family history is beyond control, unhealthy habits such as smoking, drug abuse and excessive drinking behavior can result complications can be controlled. Smoking will lead to low birth weight and even lead to spontaneous abortions as the situation complicates. Excessive alcohol consumption may lead a child to have severe behavioral problems while drug abuse will put mother's health in danger and also cause premature birth and stunted growth of the baby.
